From Jabir bin Abdullah from the Prophet s.a.w his words:

"Every disease (has) a cure. If you follow the medicine for the disease, then you will be cured by God's permission"

(Narrated by Muslim and Ahmad)

Based on the hadith above, it can be understood that:

Every disease has a cure except old age and death. Illnesses that befall God's creatures are caused by plagues, plagues, or caused by human weakness and negligence. Food and drink are human needs. It should take only what is halal, clean and pure but not excessively because. Excessive attitude will bring various harms (diseases). Allah s.w.t reminds what is found in the Qur'an in Surah al-A'raf verse 31:

"Eat and drink and do not be excessive because God does not like those who are excessive"

Curing disease is an obligation as a human endeavor. A disease may have only one drug but may have dozens of drugs. Humans with available technology have made studies, researches and discoveries. Therefore, we always hear medical fields such as modern medicine, Homeopathy, Chinese Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Islamic Treatment and many more. There are drugs that are drugs, there are drugs that have side effects, some that do not have side effects, there are food supplements and various types that are on the market.

Health is an important asset in human life and is a key aspect in the well-being and prosperity of the community or country. Without realizing it, the pattern of daily food intake clearly shows the level of a person's health in the future.

"You are what you eat", is an English saying that describes how food can affect daily life. Although many people practice a healthy lifestyle, there are also many who are not disciplined when it comes to food intake and health care.

Get to know your circulatory system and what the disease is

Have you ever wondered how the blood in your body flows endlessly? Human blood flows throughout the body through a system called the human circulatory system or another name is the cardiovascular system. The circulatory system in the human body is an amazing gift from God. This system flows blood that carries oxygen, nutrients, hormones and various important components throughout the body to ensure the survival of a human being. In addition, it works to carry waste materials out of the cells and also protects the body from infection. The circulatory system in our body works without us realizing it. However, do you know how important this system is? This article will cover more about the human circulatory system.

What Organs Are Involved In The Human Circulatory System?

The organs involved in the human circulatory system are as follows:

1. Heart

The heart is an important organ that functions to pump blood throughout the body. The heart is located in the human chest cavity, located just behind the left side of the rib cage and between the two lungs. The heart is about the size of a human fist. However, this fist-sized organ beats 100,000 times a day, pumping five or six liters of blood every minute, or about 2,000 gallons a day.  This organ is divided into four chambers, two atriums and two ventricles. The left ventricle of the heart is the chamber with the strongest muscles and it pumps oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. It is the contraction of the left ventricle that gives the value of human blood pressure. In addition, the heart also has four valves that work to ensure that blood flows in the right direction at all times.

2. Blood vessels

A blood vessel is a cylindrical organ, like a pipe but with an outer and inner surface that is elastic and capable of passing through the cracks of bones and other organs. The unique shape of the blood vessel makes it easy to function to flow blood from the heart to the rest of the body or from the rest of the body back to the heart. There are several types of blood vessels, including:
  • Arteries
Arteries transport blood from the heart to all tissues and organs in the human body such as the liver, pancreas and kidneys, usually containing oxygenated blood except for the pulmonary artery which carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs. Blood will flow from the artery which will then branch into smaller arteries and flow blood further towards the organs of the whole body. These small arteries are called arterioles. Arteries have a small lumen and a thick muscular wall. Therefore, blood can flow rapidly at high pressure until it forms a pulse called a pulse.
  • Veins
Veins are blood vessels that transport blood back to the heart and usually transport deoxygenated blood except the pulmonary veins that transport oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart. Veins have thin muscular walls and a large lumen. In addition, veins will become larger as they get closer to the heart. The large veins in question are:

        - Superior vena cava - the large vein that drains blood from the head and arms to the heart

        - Inferior vena cava - the large vein that drains blood from the stomach and legs to the heart

Veins also have valve structures in them. Because venous blood flow is slow, this structure is important to ensure that no blood flows backwards.

  • Capillary
Capillaries are small blood vessels that connect arteries and veins. Capillaries provide nutrients and oxygen to body cells and transport away carbon dioxide and waste products from cells. Its thin walls allow the exchange of oxygen, nutrients, carbon dioxide, and other waste to occur easily. The size of the capillary lumen is very small.

How Does the Human Circulatory System Work?

The circulatory system transports nutrients and oxygen to all cells in the body. The circulatory system has two interrelated systems, the systemic and pulmonary circulation. These two types of circulatory system work together to ensure the survival of a human being. Systemic circulation connects the heart with the rest of the body. This system works to supply organs, tissues and cells with oxygen and other important substances. Pulmonary circulation connects the heart and lungs. The heart pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs so that carbon dioxide and waste products can be removed. This blood then transports oxygen from the lungs to the heart before being pumped throughout the body by the systemic circulation. Such is the cycle that occurs almost every moment in our body.

FLOW OF BLOOD

The human circulatory system begins when the heart rests between two heartbeats. Blood flows from both atria (chambers inside the heart - the upper part) to the ventricles (chambers inside the heart - the lower part), which then expand. The next phase is the ejection period, which is when both ventricles contract and pump blood out of the heart.

In the systemic circulation, the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the main artery, the aorta. Blood flows from the main artery to larger and smaller arteries and then to a network of capillaries. There, the blood delivers oxygen, nutrients and other important substances to the cells and takes carbon dioxide and waste products that the body does not need from them. After that, blood that is deoxygenated or has a low oxygen content will be collected in the vein and move towards the right atrium and also to the right ventricle.

After that, this is when the pulmonary circulation begins. The right ventricle pumps low-oxygen blood into the pulmonary arteries, which branch into even smaller arteries and capillaries.  Capillaries form a fine mesh around the alveoli (the grape-like air sacs at the end of the human respiratory tract, the bronchioles). This is where carbon dioxide is released from the blood into the alveoli, and oxygen inhaled during breathing enters the bloodstream. When humans breathe, in addition to oxygen entering the respiratory tract, there is the production or removal of carbon dioxide from the body. Oxygen-rich blood travels through the pulmonary veins and left atrium to the left ventricle. The next heartbeat will start a new cycle of systemic circulation again and so on for the rest of your life!

Disorders of the Human Circulatory System

There are many types of serious diseases related to disorders of the human circulatory system. These diseases are related to the organs involved in this system, namely the heart and blood vessels. The following is a list of diseases related to disorders of the human circulatory system:
  • Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a disease caused by hardening of the arteries. This is due to the formation of plaque on the artery walls. Plaque structure contains cholesterol, other fatty substances, fibrin, substances from cells and calcium. The larger the plaque in the artery wall, the narrower the blood vessel becomes. This causes high blood pressure which also affects kidney and heart function. In addition, small plaques can detach from large plaque structures and clog capillaries. This causes ischemia or stroke if it occurs in the brain.
  • Heart attack

As described above, plaque can dislodge and block other blood vessels. If this happens in the coronary arteries of the heart it will cause a heart attack or myocardial infarction.
  • Angina pectoris
Angina pectoris occurs when the heart does not get enough blood supply. Angina means pain, while pectoris means chest. As the name suggests, the symptom that appears is chest pain and most patients say that the pain they experience is as if they are being weighed down by a heavy object. Other symptoms that can appear are tiredness, nausea and shortness of breath.
  • Arrhythmias and dysrhythmias
Arrhythmia or dysrhythmia means an abnormal heartbeat. When there is a disturbance in the heartbeat, this indicates that there is a disturbance in the contraction and expansion process of the heart which will also affect the blood circulation system in the body.
  • Heart valve problems
Heart valve problems can affect the circulatory system. A heart valve whose function is affected, whether it becomes harder and stiffer (stenosis) or loose and weak (regurgitation), can cause the process of pumping blood by the ventricles to not occur perfectly due to a valve that is too narrow so that it is difficult to pass or a valve that is loose so that it does not close completely.
  • High blood pressure
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a disturbance in the circulatory system that can occur due to other problems such as arteriosclerosis or other health problems. High blood pressure can affect the heart muscle and other organs such as the kidneys and eyes in the long term. Know your risk of developing hypertension.

Conclusion

The circulatory system is a very important system in the human body. If there is a problem related to this system, it will result in various serious diseases. Therefore, the practice of a healthy and balanced diet and regular physical activity can maintain the smooth functioning of the circulatory system. Appreciate yourself.
